Studies have shown that spending time in nature can have similar benefits to prescription medications for reduction of symptoms of:
– Anxiety
– PTSD
– Depression
– ADHD
In addition to being a licensed psychotherapist, I am also a certified ecotherapist.
Studying ecotherapy (applied ecopsychology) has given me the skills and tools to help facilitate healing and growth by supporting others to connect with nature. As an ecotherapist, I think of myself as the bridge between people and nature, facilitating a connection that heals. We suffer when we are disconnected from nature and I do not believe that we can thrive in these times without a deep connection to nature, our true home.
If nature therapy is something you are interested in, we can explore the possibility of having your therapy appointment in the forest. Most likely, we will do a combination of indoor and outdoor sessions. I may bring nature indoors and suggest therapeutic assignments for you to do on your own as well, between sessions.
